UpTop — Support
Standards kept create an epic life. When the app gets in the way of that, here’s how to get help.

Common questions
What’s a “standard”?
A standard is a non-negotiable baseline you keep because of who you are — not a goal you’re trying to reach. “I want to lose 5 kg” is a goal. “I’m the kind of person who moves every day” is a standard. Goals end when you hit them. Standards become permanent. See the ? button on the Standards tab for the full explanation.
How does Goals work?
Goals are the long view (where you’re going). Standards are the daily reps that get you there. Set a goal in each of the six categories, then link standards that support each goal. The ? button on the Goals tab explains the system end to end.
My HealthKit-driven standard says nothing’s happening
UpTop reads steps and dietary energy from Apple Health. Two things to check:
- Apple Health permissions — open iOS Settings → Apple Health → Data Access & Devices → UpTop and make sure Steps and Dietary Energy are enabled for read access. Apple doesn’t tell apps when read access is denied, so this is the most common cause.
- A nutrition app is writing to Apple Health — MyFitnessPal, Lose It!, Cronometer and similar apps need to be set up to share with Apple Health. Open their settings and enable Apple Health integration.
If you have data in the Apple Health app for the day but it still isn’t showing in UpTop, tap More → Settings → Apple Health → Connect to re-prompt for permissions.
How do streaks work?
Your streak counts days you held every standard with a fixed daily obligation (every-day standards, or specific-day standards on those days). Walking back from today:
- A day with no obligated standards is skipped — neither extends nor breaks.
- A day where all obligated standards are checked extends the streak.
- A day with an unmet obligation breaks the streak.
- Today being incomplete doesn’t break the streak — it just doesn’t extend it.
Weekly and weekly-total standards (e.g. “Cycle 100 km per week”) are not part of the streak — they’re weekly goals, judged at the end of the week, not daily promises.
Why don’t weekly goals count in my “today” tally?
Weekly goals can only be evaluated on the last day of the week (Sunday). On any other day, the goal is still in progress — you haven’t kept it or missed it. Counting them mid-week would be misleading.
Backfilling past days
You can step back through the calendar from the Standards tab and check off any past day that was missed. If a standard was created after the day you’re viewing, tap “+” — you can either backfill its start date or create a fresh standard pinned to that day.
Per-partner sharing — what can my partners see?
A partner only sees a standard if you’ve explicitly shared it with them via the Sharing section inside the standard’s editor. By default, new standards are shared with all partners (visible from the share sheet right after you create them). A small lock icon on the Standards tab marks standards that nobody is subscribed to.
Partners can see: shared standards, the check-ins on those, your weight measurements, and your goals. Partners cannot see: progress photos, body measurements (except weight), unshared standards.
Widget on the home screen
UpTop ships home-screen widgets in small/medium/large and lock-screen accessory widgets:
- Long-press the home screen → “+” → search “UpTop” → add a size.
- Medium and large widgets are interactive: tap a standard’s circle to check it off without opening the app (iOS 17+).
If the widget shows stale data, opening the main app refreshes it within a second.
Notifications
UpTop sends up to three categories:
- A morning push at 6:00 local time
- A check-in nudge at 17:00 local time
- A weekly digest from each partner, Sunday evening
Manage these from More → Settings → Push notifications. iOS-level revoke happens in Settings → Notifications → UpTop.
How do I delete my data?
Open More → Settings → Delete all my data. A two-step confirmation wipes every standard, goal, check-in, measurement, progress photo, and partner connection tied to your account. Your Apple sign-in stays intact — you can sign in again and start fresh.
For total account removal (including the Apple sign-in identifier), email me and I’ll handle it within two business days.
Partner invites
Invite codes are 6 characters and single-use. If your partner sees “Invite not found”, generate a new one from Partners tab → “+”.
